UFO's

Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed with the amount of unfinished projects you have?  I swear that my stash is growing without any help from me!

I have at least 24 project boxes, some with the project half completed and others have the fabric, pattern, thread, etc.  in the box and there they sit.  Not mention the Thimbleberries kits that are waiting for me.  Then, there are all the quilt tops that need to be quilted, the quilted tops that need to be bound and the finished quilts that I just haven't gotten around to taking a picture of for my quilt journal!

I have fabric sets that I purchased for a specific project and now I can't find the patterns!  And I ask myself  "What was it that I was going to do with this fabric"  or "Why did I ever purchase this fabric"?

Also, waiting for me are all the quilts that I have designed for "It's a Mystery" or the "Mystery Quilt of the Month".  Not the actual quilts - writing the patterns!  There are quite a few of our customers and friends who keep asking me when they will be available.  Good question!

It's not too late to start.  Just start now and go for 12 months.  You can also do what I do.  If a project isn't finished by the end of the month, it gets put away.  Then when I complete a project early I can go back to it.  Now, I am finishing projects  AND starting and completing new ones.  (After all, EVERYONE needs something new!)

I hope that your stash gets the help it needs this year!

Steps:

1. Download the chart at their website.

2. Fill in twelve projects that you want to finish this year. You can choose from any of your UFOs. If you have a kit you bought but never opened or fabric you've been holding on to for too long, add using it up to the list. 

3. On the first of each month, we'll randonly draw a number 1--12. That number will correspond with which number project you work on throughout the month. Fill in the description of where you were in the project before you start.

4. At the end of the month, fill in your progress and post pictures for everyone to see using the hashtag #APQResolution.

5. By the end of the year, you'll have 12 finished projects! Or you'll at least have made a significant dent in your stack of UFOs.

March Mystery Quilt of the Month

There is still a little time to sign up for the March Mystery Quilt of the Month.  If you have never signed up for a Mystery Quilt of the Month - this is how it works.

You look at the fabric offered and decide if you like it.  Sometimes we have a choice of colorways.  March has two colorways - the Black or the White.  The kit fabric total yardage is between 2 & 2 3/4 yds.  The pattern (do not share or copy) is included in the kit.

You pay for the kit $29.95 knowing that what the quilt looks like is a mystery.  You can ask what size it will be before you sign up. The size listed will include borders which are not part of the kit.  Sign-ups end at close on the 8th of the month.

On the 10th of the month (or shortly thereafter) you come in and pick up your kit.  You also can purchase any borders and binding for the quilt.  If you want the backing out of the featured fabrics, you will have to wait until everyone picks up their kits.

We have just revealed the June Mystery Quilt of the Month.  "Blown off Course" has flying geese in it that are on their way (somewhere)  but one it going the wrong way!  The civil war fabrics worked great for the flying geese, with a twist on the blocks.

Check out the fabric for the July Mystery Quilt of the Month.  You can pick whichever colorway you want - greens OR pink/blue.  This quilt will measure approx. 44" x 52" with borders.  You must prepay before close on July 8th.  Just $29.95!

April Mystery Quilt of the Month

As one of our customers stated:  "The April Mystery Quilt of the Month is charming!"  We couldn't agree more.  I fell in love with the Martha Washington Star and just had to make something using it.  The dotted piano key border was perfect for it!  If you missed it, you will have to see the May Fabric.  Don't miss out on this one!  $28.95 pre-paid for each kit.  Most of the time the kits do not include the borders.  Backing and binding are also purchased separately.  Sign up and pay by the end of the day on May 8th, then pick up your kit and see the quilt on or after May 10th.

"Bars & Stripes"

Our March Mystery Quilt of the Month was so much fun to make.  It took very little time to cut and sew as it was almost all strip piecing.  I loved the nautical print by Riley Blake and thought that it would make a great little boy's quilt.  It's too late to sign up for this quilt, but on Monday you can check out the fabric for the April Mystery Quilt of the Month.  The fabric from March's quilt is only available to those that purchased the kit. After March 20 it will be available to anyone.

February & March Mystery Quilt of the Month

 Here are the fabrics that were used in the February Mystery Quilt of the Month.  And here is our finished quilt.

The "Love Birds" are copied from the fabric and are appliqued on the bottom of the quilt.

Yes, I am a little behind on posting the November Mystery Quilt of the Month (just where did this last month go?)!  Well, here it is: our November Mystery Quilt of the Month.   All Boxed Up, came in three different color-ways.  It was fun and easy to make.

We took December off from the Mystery Quilt of the Month and so, the January Mystery Quilt of the Month is just getting posted.  There are two color-way choices for January.  You can choose from the Brown & Blue or the Green & Orange.  Kits are limited, cost $28.95 each (borders are purchased separately) and must be ordered by January 8, 2015.






When these fabrics are gone, we will add another color-way.  What do you think of the fabrics?

Mystery Quilt of the Month

Customers thought we were crazy when they saw how many fabrics were in the October Mystery Quilt of the Month.  There were 10!  But, we think it turned out great!  What do you think?

"Harvest Medley" measures 54" square with the borders.

When you purchase the Mystery Quilt of the Month, you get to see the fabrics being used and find out just how big the quilt will be with and without borders.  The borders are not usually included in the kit, they will need to be purchased separately.  Kits cost $28.95 each.  The kits need to be ordered by the 8th of the month and you may pick them up on the 10th of the same month.  When you pick up your kit, you may also purchase fabric for your borders, binding and backing.  If you would like to make your quilt bigger, we would suggest that you purchase 2 or more kits.  This will guarantee that you will get enough fabric to do so.  The fabrics are available to purchase, only for those who have purchased the kit, until the 20th.  After that, the fabrics will go back on the shelf.

These patterns are not for sale, but we hope that they will be soon!

July Mystery Quilt of the Month

Do your eyes go crazy when you sew on spots?  Mine certainly did!
This is our July Mystery Quilt of the Month.
It was fast and easy (if you could stand looking at all those spots).
It measures 48" x 60" and was a lot of fun designing.

Sorry about all the confusion with the border fabric.  We have received a new shipment of the yellow and the peach fabrics, (sorry,we were not able to get any of the blue) for all of you who still need border fabric, backs and bindings.
